Laurie is an Occupational Therapist, former professional gymnast, and founder of AniMotion™ children's exercise program and DVD. Laurie's motto is "Play with a Purpose", and it is her goal to get kids moving.
Laurie believes that movement is a building block of life. AniMotion™ challenges children to move their bodies in new ways that leads to a more fully integrated nervous system and makes them more ready to respond to other physical activities like gymnastics, soccer, and baseball. Whether it is hiking, skiing, fishing or simply doing household chores, kids who are doing the kinds of exercises demonstrated in AniMotion™ are better prepared by the brain/body connection that helped them to learn new physical skills. Balance, agility and confidence grow as children gain overall coordination and control.

Laurie is married to Dr. Jay McFarlane, D.C. and they have three grown boys who are successful, active and athletic.
"When I started seeing Dr. McFarlane, I was having headaches just about every day. The muscles in my neck and shoulders were like rocks. Dr. McFarlane has gotten rid of my headaches through treatments and streteches he showed me to do between treatments. I really appreciate his approach to good health rather than just elimination of the symptoms."
- Carol S.
"...I am exercising again and able to maintain my allergies and asthma in a manageable state. Before Dr. McFarlane, my husband could not stand up straight and was on pain medication for lower back problems. Now he is playing raquetball again. Peter is so much better after the accident he had this summer, he is playing basketball again... We are very grateful for the treatment we have received from Dr. McFarlane."
- Keith, Mary Jo, Peter and Mary Grace
"Thanks to Dr. McFarlane's treatments, advice on diet, vitamins and exercise, I haven't taken pain medication for a couple of years. I feel Dr. McFarlane has made my quality of life as a senior citizen better than it had been for 10 or 15 years previous. I enjoy telling other people of Dr. McFarlane and the wonderful results I've had from his treatments and advice."
- Mary Lou
"I have had surgery twice on my foot, each time with different diagnoses from two different physicians. I have had numerous problems resulting from these surgeries. Dr. McFarlane has been the first doctor to treat my foot and had given me any relief from the pain. His professionalism with patients, courtesy and consideration has been very helpful."
- Rita F.
"I have been a patient with Dr. Jay for the past 3 years. During these past years I have accomplished several Grand Canyon hikes, including a 23 mile rim-to-rim, and 3 P.F. Chang's 1/2 marathons. Most recently I have battled cancer treatments and during all of these accomplishments and trials Dr. Jay has kept my mental and physical self in alignment. With the assistance of Dr. Jay and staff at Advanced back Pain & Injury Center, I feel that I have been able to maintain a balance in my life I may otherwise not have been able to accomplish. Thank you!"
"I am a chiropractor, with the same hard-won post-doctoral credentials as Dr. Jay. So, when I moved to Phoenix I knew that I could not / would not work with just any doctor. When in practice myself, I gave top-notch care to my own patients and so I insisted on finding someone with exacting standards, attention to detail, caring attitude, superior skills, and an extensive knowledge base. Dr. Jay is that doctor! He is definitely worth the 45+ minute drive from my home."
"Good session as usual. Dr. Jay adjusted me manually and with activator and focused on the areas where I had needed adjustment, such as shoulders, ankles, back and neck."
"Immediately after the adjustment I felt almost 100% better! Dr. Jay knows his stuff. I am in deep appreciation, and have been for almost twenty years. Life is good again! Thanks Doc!"
"Great office! Fantastic service! Great people to work with! Very informative and new programs and treatments available."
"Dr. Jay is working miracles on my sciatica. The pain is subsiding and I'm back to walking."

The purpose of Chiropractic Care is to restore and maintain the health of the whole person and not just to treat the isolated symptoms and diseases. Chiropractic personalizes care to help create the potential for well-being and improve the quality of life, rather than just focusing on illness.
Chiropractic care is aimed at restoring and maintaining normal structure, joint, muscle, and nervous system function. For more information, please watch the video.
Diversified Adjustments are a traditional chiropractic technique done by hand in order to deliver specific pressure focused on restoring normal physiological motion in joints of the spine and extremities.
The Gonstead Adjustment is a specific pressure delivered by hand which provides individual control over the adjustment so that it can be modified to suit any patient. It is a fast exact pressure is applied, that is also gentle and effective. The adjustment is intended to restore proper function to the spine and nervous system so the body can then begin its natural healing process.
The Activator Technique utilizes a small spring-loaded adjusting instrument to deliver a focused low pressure corrective impulse into the misaligned spinal segment.
Acupuncture stimulates the body's nerves, muscles and connective tissues through the use of lasers or traditional Acupuncture needles to boost the activity of your body's natural painkillers and increase blood flow.
Stability Rehabilitation is the treatment of disease, pain, and weakness using specialized exercise and stretching rather than by drugs.
Low-Level Laser Therapy restores health by removing the underlying causes of ill health by decreasing inflammation, increasing oxygen and blood flow, promoting muscle calcium uptake, and increasing neurotransmitters release. Laser light passes through the skin and stimulates the cell energy production center, called the mitochondria, creating more energy, better cell communication, improved tissue growth, enhanced cell nutrition and extended cell life.
Dynamic Gait Analysis and Customized Orthotics involves walking over a computerized pressure plate with over 4000 sensors while the computer displays 2-D and 3-D representations of the pressures under your feet. The report of findings will help Dr. McFarlane evaluate your foot function and determine if the symptoms you are experiencing are related to faulty foot mechanics. If necessary, customized orthotics (devices worn in your shoes) are prescribed to relieve your dysfunction by realigning and stabilizing the bones of your feet, therefore, restoring your natural walking pattern.
Nutrition is part of our whole-body approach to your wellness. We believe that identifying and correcting nutritional deficiencies is critical to your overall health. Nutrition is closely related to your body's internal balance and immune system. We can help you maximize your genetic potential!
"The food you eat can be either the safest and most powerful form of medicine or the slowest form of poison." - Dr. Ann Wigmore
